18km in 18min gibt 60 km/h.

So what ??

Hello from the USA.
My name is B. S. (Name von 9-er gekürzt), and I am in charge of the store at Deals Gap and also the website dealsgap.com . We have counted the turns many times, and always come up with a different number. It is the history that is important here though. The man that started calling the road “ The Dragon” was the one that decided how many turns there are, not us. We just pass on the tradition. I do not know which video you are watching of the Dragon, but I can almost assure you that it is not a complete run of the road. Many people stop 3 miles short of the end, to talk, hang out or turn around to go the other way.
The Dragon has a speed limit of 30 miles per hour for the 11 miles through the mountains, but even that slow many people have problems with the turns. We usually see as many as 10 accidents a day, mostly with the Harley groups. The sport bikes are more ready for these turns, but even they have accidents. I have been riding here for more than 10 years, and I have had many accidents in that time. Thankfully, I have never really hurt myself that bad.
Please let your motorcycle friends know that we consider this to be one of the best places to ride in the USA, but we know that there are many better places in your part of the world. To us, this is one of our favorite places to ride. The area where the Dragon is has many other great roads too. You can ride for a week here, and not ever see the same road twice.
Thanks for the questions, and the best wishes. Happy riding to all our German Biker Friends.
