      Ducati set to launch new Monster


      Ducati insiders have revealed that the firm will launch a new generation of Monster at the Milan show this November.

      The bike, shown here as a computer-generated image, will feature evolutionary styling, but is the first completely new Monster since the bike was launched in 1992.
      Powered by the air-cooled 1100cc engine from the Hypermotard, plus the 675cc motor of the smallest current Monster, it hopes to take the old bike’s place as the firm’s best-selling machine.

      The styling is said to be instantly recognisable as a Monster, but with a more modern overall appearance. Twin high-mounted exhausts, one either side of the seat, and a sloping headlight similar to that on the Aprilia Shiver are said to be the main styling cues of the bike.

      Ducati is concentrating on air-cooled versions of the Monster, so the current Testastretta-engined S4R is likely to be dropped, and eventually replaced by a sportier machine based on a stripped-naked version of the 1098.

    • Ist das ein Fake? Man müßte halt wie bei fast jedem neuen Mopped gleich noch in eine neue Auspuffanlage investieren. Scheinwerfer könnte auch schöner sein, aber ansonsten tolles Mopped, was die alte Monster ja auch schon war. Aber eine zweite Bremsscheibe vorne sollte auch noch drin sein.

      ja die Endtöpfe sehen fürchterbar aus. Könnten viel dünner sein.
      Der Rahmen soll übrigens von der Multi/Hyper sein.

      Ich denke mit den beiden Bremsscheiben bekommen die auf jeden Fall noch hin.
      Die Hypermotrad war bei der Vorstellung als Prototyp auch nur mit einer Bremsscheibe ausgestattet - in der Serie sind es zwei.

    • Das istn Fake. Die ham da einfach was aus der Hypermotardstudie zusammengebastelt (eine Bremsscheibe, Rückspiegel). Ich glaub kaum dass das so toll aussieht wenn ne Monster so ne mächtige Fahnenstange als Lenker hat wie er zweckmäßig an der Hyper vorzufinden ist.

      Über die Auspüffe brauch ma net babbeln - kann mir nicht vorstellen das die Hersteller selbst damit zufrieden sind. Zur Zeit löst das am schönsten die ZX6R die viel Abgas bereits schon unter der Verkleidung bereinigt. Da fällt dann der sichtbare Topf annehmbar klein aus. Underseat hin oder her, gefällt mir etz selbst nicht, aber nur mal um zu verdeutlichen was ich mein...

      Ansonsten ist das ein logischer Schritt wenn eine 1100er Monster raus käme. Mal den alten 888-Rahmen abzuösen sicherlich fahrwerkstechnisch keine schlechte Idee zumal alle "luftgekühlten" Rahmen sehr anschaulich und dabei traditionsbewusst sind.
      Naja, der Scheinwerfer, auch ein kleines Problem...an ner Monster muss der schon rund - es sei denn etwas anderes ist nützlicher und bringt mehr Lichtausbeute oder so ein schnickschnack...

      Nö, mal ersthaft.
      Wenn man sich das Bildchen genauer betrachtet, erkennt man so
      einige Fotomontagen.
      Monsterheck, Tankausbuchtungen passen gar nicht, Farbe von Höcker/Tank, Kotflügel vorn...

      We have mentioned before that we thought that a new bike was waiting in the wings to replace the Monster, Ducati's most successful model, bar-none. However, word has filtered out that it will actually be an updated Monster that emerges, rather than a replacement. Sources say that the bike has already been signed off and has a whole new profile, which includes a sloping headlight like the Aprilia Shiver. At the rear it has twin upswept pipes exiting either side of the rear light unit. A new frame similar to the now launched Hypermotard will be used to house air-cooled motors taken from the Multistrada and the existing Monster 695. The liquid-cooled S4R and S4RS with their Testastretta motors are set to die in favor of a new naked 1098!
